By 30 June 2006 IPStream needs to consume LLU from Openreach on the same terms as external CPs, as part of delivering Equivalence of Input for SMPF and MPF. BT Wholesale has decided that DataStream will also move to consuming LLU, although there is no obligation to do so.
Because of this, there will be minor changes to the BT Wholesale systems, processes and procedures used to provide these products. In addition we will design new interfaces (firewalls) between BT Wholesale and Openreach systems so that the LLU product (metallic path) is provided to BT Wholesale in an equivalent way as to other Communication Providers.
The biggest impact will be the creation of a business to business gateway between Openreach and BT Wholesale for provision by 30 June 2006.
All the changes are being managed in the standard product launch process, led by the system design and the process design teams.
Where are we now?
January saw the start of early internal system tests on IPStream. Plans are underway on the detailed internal fulfillment process changes required for both IPStream and DataStream.
Work to scope any potential trial requirements has also started and BT expects to have more details available at the end of March. However at the moment, customers are not required to do anything. Details of any product changes will be notified via the bi-monthly ISP forums and/or by email briefings to customers. Contact rob.agnew@bt.com for more information on the ISP forums.
The ISP Forum event held on 6th February saw BT share initial information on the IPStream details with customers. For more details please click on the IPStream link below.
