Systems Separation
Ofcom published in June a variation to the Undertakings following consultation. It provided for interim milestones to be met on the way to full physical separation of Operational Support Systems in 2010.
From 30th June, Openreach Operational Support Systems (OSS) supporting the EOI products for wholesale analogue line rental, shared metallic path facility and metallic path had inappropriate access removed or managed through the use of user access controls. Over 6,000 applications and robots were assessed, with changes applied and tested to more than 100 systems (including substantial changes to CSS) An audit of the effectiveness of this first phase of separation will run over the coming months.
