ISDN/Highway conversion process

From 1st July an EOI process was made available to all Communications Providers (CPs) for converting an end user’s line with either an ISDN2 or Highway service to Wholesale Line Rental (WLR) and Shared Metallic Path Facility (SMPF) services, over which CPs can provide telephony and broadband services to their end users.

Orders for the conversion process must be placed on the Equivalence Management Platform (EMP) by both the WLR and SMPF CPs to convert an existing ISDN2 or Highway installation to WLR with simultaneous SMPF.

This process is available for conversion from ISDN2, ISDN2e, Home Highway and Business Highway lines and WLR Digital Access (ISDN2) provided over copper, but excluding lines with TPON-based provision.

Information regarding the conversation process is available in BT briefing Gen008/07 and also the EMP version of the MPF and SMPF products End to End process manual on the LLU pages of the Openreach portal.
